What You Need to Know
The Great Prop Swap will take place Saturday, June 8th 2024. The primary convention venue, the Al Bahr Shriners Center, is where ticketing, celebrity autographs and photo ops, food trucks, and the vendor floor will be located.
All official events and activities will take place from 10am-5pm (on Saturday). See the Schedule page for specific venue hours and other details.
Ticketing & Pass Pick-Up
All passes will be issued electronically on the Eventbrite website. Attendees will need to have their digital tickets available on their phones or have a printed copy at the entry point for scanning. You may also purchase last minute tickets at the front entrance the day of the event at the Al-Bahr Shriners Center.
What to Bring
You will need your ticket confirmation with you. Either on your phone or a printed version.
Lots of cash! Not all vendors and celebrity guests accept credit cards, so plan to bring plenty of cash.
No outside food or drinks will be allowed inside the Event Center. NO ALCOHOL. Food vendors will be located at the Al Bahr Shriners Center’s, parking area. Please support these businesses.
Celebrity Schedule
Unless noted, celebrity guests will be at their tables, available to meet fans, take photographs, autographs, etc. Autograph and photograph prices vary by celebrity. (We will make special announcements for those guests who will not be with us, and any changes or cancellations will be posted on the Guests page.)
The celebrity guests will be located on the 2nd exhibition floor of the Al Bahr Shriners Center.
Hotel Accommodations
Hampton Inn San Diego-Kearny Mesa
This straightforward hotel is directly in front of the Great Prop Swap Convention. Relaxed rooms include free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, as well as minifridges and coffeemakers. Complimentary amenities include parking, and hot breakfast or weekday breakfast bags to go. There’s an outdoor pool and a gym, as well as a coin-operated laundry and a 24-hour market.

What is The Great Prop Swap?
The Great Prop Swap, is a movie prop, thing makers, costuming, and collectibles event created organized by Trooperbay to hyper focus on the movie prop replica and costuming communities. This purpose of this event is to promote the gathering of movie prop makers, rare collectors and costumers in a venue that is entertaining and fun. We also support regular Comic-Con activities like trading cards, statues, comics, games, and so much more.

Are Costumes or Cosplay Promoted?
YES – We would love to see your newest, and best costumes. At the moment there are no direct incentives such as a costume contest, but you can still enjoy the event in costume and pose for some amazing photo’s with celebrity guests and other attendees! Replica weapons are OK – but will be checked at the door by security.
Can I volunteer?

What are the exclusives for the event?
The Great Prop Swap will host tons of the most awesome vendor offered exclusives and collectors items in San Diego. We will also have “The Great Prop Swap 2024” exclusives available for purchase when you buy tickets , or here on the site and at the event merchandise booth.

What is Trooperbay and how is it related to The Great Prop Swap?
Trooperbay is your source for costuming supplies, prop replicas, collectibles and novelties! The Great Prop Swap was originally just a “yard sale” where heavily discounted items were offered for purchase. We noticed that others wanted to be involved in the “yard sale” as well so in 2023 we offered to host an event and over 25 vendors showed up. Free tickers were offered for attendees and over 500 people showed up to shop the event! After the incredible response we decided to make an official event. This year will be the 1st Annual Great Prop Swap!
